STUDENT's EVIL 2: EPIDEMIC. [DMC2A04 Edition]

Chapter 1 --- Outbreak

========================

The C-virus.

Totally harmful, causes physical decomposition and renders a person's body control lost. A person infected would begin to die off, as when the flesh dies, the physical parts of it start to die off, and brains, begin to stop functioning. A combination of deadly nerve gas that disables mentally. When the mind dies, the body is somehow still alive, heart beating as usual, but without a control and the continued decomposition of the bodies, there arises the need to feed.

Feed. The most primitive need of living things for surivival. No food, we die. And the bodies infected obviously do not wish to be dead, so they begin to hunt, for the freshest available food, rendering them into... zombies.

You will be amazed that the creation of such a deadly virus was actually by renegade scientists in a school polytechnic. Funded by a pharmeceutical company known none other than the infamous Body Shop. You are obviously surprised. Body Shop, the name as it sounds, seeks to protect. The objective of this whole C-virus project was to develop biological weapons for the use to control a country. As a small little island on the geographical map, it would definitely seem powerless to its surrounding countries of massive size. Body Shop obviously seeks to own the country, and the world. What more than a massive epidemic... to become a larger scale of a pandemic. What world domination can benefit to huge MNCs... well, let's just leave it at the phrase "a lot".

The renegade scientists were a brilliant bunch led by a lecturer in the school. He was a smart strategist who could understand both science and business, rendering him the perfect leader of the group that would seek his help. He was after all, a deputy director in the school. His image would seem IMPOSSIBLE to think of such a mastermind behind a plot like this.

But Li Zhong Wah, the deputy director of the School of Business, was a much more brilliant person than what people would perceive of him. His impression to students and lecturers alike, a well-spoken and outstanding lecturer, easy to communicate with and has a great knowledge of what he was doing. Such brilliance, to him, is definitely wasted in a polytechnic. He wanted more out of his life. That's when the Body Shop approached him to head the renegade scientists, offering him a lump sum of money. It was something fun and respectable, in his eyes, at the very least.

His new task, however, was a tad too difficult. To deliver the results of the renegade scientists, he had to give the higher-ups a view of its power. He needed to prove his power to the higher-ups. Yes, I need guinea pigs, he thought to himself. But where to find them?

The SP Logo in his office shined brightly in his face.

"Woo. Lecture is finally over," Jessica mumbled to herself. She packed her bags and moved out for lunch. She was rather quiet, especially in class activities. The class had tried to get her to join them sometimes for lunch and all that, but she enjoyed solitude of her meals. Well, not really. It was just okay for her, she could do with people around, but she would be fine even off alone.

As part of the honour roll, she was excellent in her grades and all that. Studying often and being efficient is just a norm to her. People see it that way. She gets a bit claustrophobic within large groups, she says to her friends. They understand, and everyone's cool about it anyway.

After lunch, the norm would seem to be going to the library to study. The quiet zone, one of her favourite hangouts, was the best place. And today, it was empty. Yes! The peace of studying without disturbances from soft chattering or sudden SMS ringtones. Full concentration.

She studied for awhile and found herself to be rather sleepy. Deciding to nap before the next class, she rested her head on the table and fell into deep sleep. What a mistake. She liked sleeping. Sleeping was an enjoyable process to her at least. But her sleep was so deep, she could lose consciousness of what happens around her. The sealed quiet zone was a nice cosy place, with the library being particularly empty, she rested comfortably on the table.

However, she did not expect that she would wake up at night within the school, and even find the whole library itself in chaos. Thus, the beginning of the epidemic.
